Wholesale Drug Distribution License

With the intent to prevent the introduction and retail sale of substandard, ineffective, or counterfeit drugs into the distribution system, state licensing systems moved to update their standards to match those provided federally as guided under the FDA’s Guidelines for State Licensing of Wholesale Prescription Drug Distributors (21 CFR 205). Every wholesale distributor in a state who engages in wholesale distributions of prescription drugs in interstate commerce must be licensed by the State licensing authority in accordance with this part before engaging in wholesale distributions of prescription drugs in interstate commerce.
