A primary data source is an original source that documents an event in time, a person, or an idea. Examples of primary sources can include raw data, original research from journal articles, correspondence, photographs, eyewitness accounts, interviews, legal documents, government documents, and public records. Primary data can take a quantitative or statistical form, such as charts, graphs, diagrams and tables. Primary data can also be qualitative which can include extracts from the conversations of those being studied.
